About Community Horse Sanctuary

In 2015 we began transforming Ashfault Farm, our small race horse breeding operation, into a facility for taking in horses who need a comfortable, healthy home to live out their lives.  We’re fortunate to be located in the Helvetia area just west of Portland, Oregon where there is plenty of space, lots of grass and a generous, animal-loving community.

The Community Horse Sanctuary is an IRS sanctioned non-profit charity.  We’re doing as much as we can with our own resources, but could do more with your tax-deductible donation or other help.

Lorie Wigle Community Horse Sanctuary

Lorie Wigle

President / Director

Lorie has been a horse lover all her life and has particularv respect for Thoroughbreds.  After a long career in high-tech, she’s delighted to put her energy into building a community to work on their behalf.  As she learns from the CHS experience in Helvetia, her goal is to create a blueprint that could be replicated elsewhere.

Ash Gupte

Owner

Ash lived in big cities with no real exposure to animals until moving to Portland as a twenty-something. Here he was introduced to horses and life in the country by his wife Lorie and Portland’s innovative urban growth planning that allows people to live on acreage within a few miles of downtown. He’s enjoyed his involvement with horses initially in racing and breeding them and now in the Community Horse Sanctuary. They provide a welcome contrast to his normal work as a serial entrepreneur.
